Genomic Technologies Core Facility https://www.bmh.manchester.ac.uk/research/facilities/genomic-technologies/

The Genomic Technologies Core Facility houses a range of Illumina NextGen sequencing platforms. We also have extensive capability in single cell technologies. In addition we have platforms for analysing gene expression profiles of multiple genes (the Nanostring nCounter and BiomarkTM HD from Fluidigm).
Services on offer to the community:
1) The Nanostring nCounter analysis system utilizes a novel digital color-coded barcode technology that is based on direct multiplexed measurement of gene expression and offers high levels of precision and sensitivity (<1 copy per cell). The technology uses molecular "barcodes" and single molecule imaging to detect and count hundreds of unique transcripts in a single reaction. Each color-coded barcode is attached to a single target-specific probe corresponding to a gene of interest. Mixed together with controls, they form a multiplexed CodeSet which provides sensitive, precise, and quantitative analytical performance
2) BiomarkTM HD from Fluidigm. This system sets a new standard for high-throughput real-time PCR, end-point PCR and digital PCR, with benefits that are impossible to reproduce using many other conventional PCR systems. Integrated Fluidic Circuit (IFC) technology both prepares and performs thousands of reactions in nanolitre volumes, saving time and money and reducing pipetting steps by 95%. The system together with IFCs and the IFC Controller for loading samples and assays, streamlines workflows for applications demanding sensitivity and dynamic range at an extremely high throughput, such as single-cell analysis.
